Overview

Jean-Paul Duminy (born 14 April 1984), commonly known as JP Duminy, is a South African former international cricketer. A left-handed batsman and right-arm off spin bowler, he represented South Africa across all three formats of the international game and served as vice-captain of the South Africa Twenty20 side.

Background

Duminy was raised in the Western Cape province of South Africa. He came through the domestic system in his home region and played first-class and limited-overs cricket for the Cape Cobras, the franchise side representing the Western Cape and Boland regions in South African domestic cricket.

International Career

Duminy made his Test debut in 2008 and went on to play 46 Test matches over nearly a decade. Alongside his Test career, he was a regular in South Africa's limited-overs sides and rose to become vice-captain of the national Twenty20 team.

Hat-trick at the 2015 Cricket World Cup

During the 2015 Cricket World Cup, Duminy became the first South African bowler to take a hat-trick at a Cricket World Cup, achieving the feat against Sri Lanka. The performance remains one of the defining moments of his international career.

Retirement
