The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad or IIIT-H) is an autonomous research university located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, in the Indian state of Telangana. Established in 1998, it was the first of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology to be set up under a not-for-profit public-private partnership (N-PPP) model, and is recognised as a deemed-to-be university by the Government of India.

Overview

Background and establishment

IIIT Hyderabad served as a model for the public-private partnership IIITs that the Government of India later promoted, and is distinct from the Indian Institutes of Information Technology established by Act of Parliament in 2014.

Common degree streams include the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in disciplines such as Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering, dual-degree (B.Tech.–MS by Research) programmes, Master of Science by Research, Master of Technology, and Doctor of Philosophy.
