Overview
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali (IISER Mohali) is an autonomous public research institute located in Mohali, Punjab. Established in 2007, it is one of the seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) set up by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, with the objective of carrying out research in frontier areas of science and providing science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
IISER Mohali was established after IISER Pune and IISER Kolkata. It has been recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The institute emphasises pure research as well as interdisciplinary research across various branches of science.
The institute is situated in Knowledge City, Mohali, an academic and research hub that also houses other research establishments such as the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), the Centre of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB), and the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI).
