Overview
Homi Wadia (22 May 1911 – 10 December 2004) was an Indian film director and producer associated with Hindi cinema. Together with his elder brother JBH Wadia, who was also a film director, he co-founded Wadia Movietone in 1933. After the closure of Wadia Movietone, he established Basant Pictures in 1942, which became known for stunt, fantasy and devotional films.
Across a career spanning roughly five decades, Homi Wadia directed over forty films. His notable works include Hunterwali (1935) and Miss Frontier Mail (1936), both stunt features, as well as Diamond Queen (1940). He also directed the devotional film Shri Ram Bhakta Hanuman (1948) and the fantasy film Hatim Tai (1956).
Homi Wadia was a founding member of the Film & Television Producers Guild of India, established in 1954. He was married to the actress and stunt performer Fearless Nadia, who featured prominently in many of the films produced by the Wadia banners.
