Hashim Mahomed Amla, OIS (born 31 March 1983) is a South African former international cricketer who served as captain of the national team in both Test matches and One Day Internationals (ODIs). A right-handed top-order batsman, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have represented South Africa and one of the leading top-order players of his era.

Career
Amla established himself as a mainstay of South Africa's batting line-up across formats. Alongside Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers, he formed the core of the South African batting order during a successful era for the team.
Record-breaking 311 not out
In July 2012, Amla scored 311 not out against England at The Oval. The innings stands as the second-highest individual Test score by a South African batsman.
ODI centuries against all Test-playing nations
Amla scored ODI centuries against every Test-playing country, becoming only the fourth cricketer to achieve the feat.
Recognition
He was named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2013. He has also been awarded the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver (OIS).
