Overview
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), commonly referred to as IP University, is a state public university located in Delhi, India. Established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, it functions as an affiliating and teaching university offering programmes across engineering, medicine, law, management, humanities, and allied disciplines. The university is named after Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru.

Background
GGSIPU was set up by the Delhi government to address the growing demand for higher education in the National Capital Territory and to act as an affiliating university for professional and technical institutions in Delhi. It was created through legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, which provides the statutory basis for its functioning, governance structure, and academic powers.
