Gujarat Vidyapith is a deemed university located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It was founded in 1920 by Mahatma Gandhi, who is widely regarded as the "Father of the Nation" in India and was a leader of the Indian independence movement. The institution was established during the period of the freedom struggle, when Gandhi sought to create centres of learning rooted in Indian values and self-reliance.

The institution attained the status of a deemed university in 1963, formalising its standing within the higher education framework of India. Since then, it has continued to function as a recognised centre of learning in Ahmedabad.
