Overview
Gujarat Technological University (GTU), also referred to as the International Innovative University, is a public state university based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It affiliates a large number of engineering, pharmacy and management colleges across the state and is headed by the Government of Gujarat. The university came into existence on 16 May 2007.
Prior to the establishment of GTU, Gujarat University served as the principal affiliating university for colleges across the state, including technical institutions. With a view to enabling more efficient and systematic delivery of technical education, the state government constituted GTU as a dedicated technological university for Gujarat.
Several well-known engineering institutions are affiliated to GTU. These include Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering, Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya, Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, the Gujarat Technological University School of Engineering and Technology, and a number of government engineering colleges. In all, the university affiliates 485 colleges across Gujarat, with a combined enrolment of over 400,000 students.
The university follows a regular examination cycle, declaring results for its winter examinations between February and April, and for its summer examinations between June and August.
