Background

Government Medical College, Chandrapur was established in 2015 as part of the Maharashtra government's expansion of public medical education in the Vidarbha region. The college was started by utilising the existing infrastructure of the District T.B Hospital, while the merger of the District Civil Hospital and the District T.B Hospital provided the clinical base required for teaching and patient care. The planned new campus, spread over 50 acres along the Chandrapur Bypass road, is intended to house permanent academic and hospital facilities.
