Background

Parkar emerged from Mumbai's competitive club and maidan cricket circuit, which has historically been a major feeder system for the Bombay Ranji Trophy team. The Parkar surname is associated with several Mumbai cricketers of the same era, most notably the Test batsman Ghulam Parkar's contemporaries who came through the same school and club structures that have long defined Mumbai cricket.

Career

Parkar played in the Indian domestic first-class circuit, primarily for Bombay. The team during his playing years contested the Ranji Trophy, the Irani Trophy and the Duleep Trophy (representing the West Zone), and dominated several editions of the Ranji Trophy in this period.

Significance

As a member of Bombay's first-class set-up, Parkar was part of one of the most decorated structures in Indian domestic cricket. Players from this system frequently progressed to the India national team, and the broader cohort of Indian first-class cricketers from this era contributed to the depth that supported India's international results during the 1980s.
