Gautam Buddha University was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the Uttar Pradesh Gautam Buddha University Act, 2002, and began academic operations on its Greater Noida campus in 2008. The university was conceived as part of the development of the Yamuna Expressway region and is spread over a large campus in Greater Noida. It is organised into a series of specialised schools, including schools of engineering, information and communication technology, biotechnology, Buddhist studies and civilisation, humanities and social sciences, law, justice and governance, vocational studies and applied sciences, and management.
Academic programmes
The School of Management runs management education at the postgraduate level, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, along with doctoral research opportunities. Coursework typically covers core areas of management such as marketing, finance, human resource management, operations and strategy, with electives drawn from contemporary areas of business practice. As with other GBU schools, programmes are residential in nature, given the university's fully residential campus model.
Campus and facilities
The school operates from the main Gautam Buddha University campus in Greater Noida, which lies within the National Capital Region. Students of the School of Management share the central university facilities, including the library, auditoria, sports infrastructure, and on-campus hostels for men and women. Proximity to the industrial and corporate clusters of Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi provides access to internships and recruitment opportunities for management students.
Significance
As the management arm of a state university created specifically to serve the western Uttar Pradesh region, the School of Management contributes to the supply of management graduates within the National Capital Region. Its location near Greater Noida's industrial belt situates it within an emerging hub of higher education institutions in Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
