Overview
Gauri Shinde (born 6 July 1974) is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for her work in Hindi cinema. She is associated with character-driven narratives that explore everyday relationships and personal growth.
Shinde made her directorial debut with English Vinglish (2012), which received wide critical acclaim. The film also marked the return of actress Sridevi to the lead role after a long break from films.
Following the release of her debut feature, Shinde was included in the Financial Times 2012 list of '25 Indians To Watch'. She was also named in Rediff's list of 'Bollywood's 5 Best Directors of 2012'.
