Overview
Gareth Kyle Berg (born 18 January 1981) is a South African-born English-Italian cricketer who last played domestic cricket for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. He was born in South Africa, where he attended Edgemead Primary School before moving on to the South African College School (SACS).
Berg is qualified by residency to represent England and also holds an Italian passport. He is not considered a Kolpak player. His mixed eligibility has shaped the course of his career across domestic and international cricket.
In January 2021, Berg was appointed as the head coach of the Italian cricket team. Alongside this coaching role, he has continued to play for Italy.
