Gajra Raja Medical College

Gajra Raja Medical College (GRMC) is a government medical college located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is among the older medical institutions in central India and is affiliated with Jiwaji University, Gwalior. The college is associated with a group of teaching hospitals in Gwalior, of which the Jaya Arogya (JA) Group of Hospitals serves as the principal clinical training facility.

Overview

The college offers undergraduate medical education leading to the MBBS degree, along with postgraduate degree and diploma courses across major clinical and pre-clinical specialties. As a state-run institution, admissions are conducted through the national common entrance examination for medical courses, with seats allotted under both state and all-India quotas in line with Government of India regulations.

Background

Gwalior, the headquarters of the erstwhile princely state of Gwalior under the Scindia dynasty, has long been a regional centre for education and healthcare in the Chambal–Gwalior region of Madhya Pradesh. The medical college takes its name from Gajra Raja, a member of the Scindia royal family of Gwalior, reflecting the city's historical patronage of public institutions.
