Overview

Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, also known as RPNLU, NLU Prayagraj or NLU Allahabad, is a public law school located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of the National Law Universities in the country, a category of autonomous law schools established by state legislation to offer specialised legal education.

The university is named after Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and is situated in Prayagraj, a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh that has long been associated with legal institutions in northern India. As a National Law University, it falls within the broader framework of public legal education in India, which combines undergraduate and postgraduate study in law.

RPNLU is the second National Law University to be established in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The first such institution in the state is Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, located in Lucknow. With the establishment of RPNLU at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh became one of the states in India to host more than one National Law University.
