Overview
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi, commonly known as AUD, is a state university established by the Government of the NCT of Delhi through an Act of the Delhi Legislature. It was formerly known as Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi and Ambedkar University Delhi. The university began functioning in August 2008.
AUD is a unitary, non-affiliating university whose principal focus is on undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, along with research in the Humanities and the Social Sciences. The university is funded by the State Government of the NCT of Delhi and has also been declared eligible to receive Central Government assistance.
The university has been accredited and graded 'A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is named after B. R. Ambedkar, the polymath who served as the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and is regarded as one of the founding figures of modern India.
