Overview

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU) is a National Law University situated at Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonipat, Haryana, India. It was established by the State Government of Haryana through the State Legislature Act No. 15 of 2012. The University observes its Foundation Day on 26 April and is recognised by the Bar Council of India. It is also a member of the Consortium of National Law Universities.

The institution was originally constituted as 'The National Law University Haryana'. By an amendment passed in 2014, the name of the University was changed to 'Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University Sonepat', in honour of B. R. Ambedkar, social reformer and the principal architect of the Constitution of India.

The University campus covers an area of 25 acres. Under the governing statute, the Chief Justice of India, or a nominee who shall be a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court of India, serves as the Visitor of the University. The Governor of Haryana serves as the Chancellor; Ashim Kumar Ghosh is the incumbent Chancellor. Devinder Singh is the incumbent Vice-Chancellor.

DBRANLU commenced academic activity with its first batch of the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) five-year integrated course from the academic year 2019–20.
