The school is situated in Ahmedabad, which lies near the banks of the Sabarmati River, about 25 km from Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. Ahmedabad is the administrative headquarters of the Ahmedabad district and the seat of the Gujarat High Court. With a population of 5,570,585 recorded in the 2011 census, Ahmedabad is the fifth-most populous city in India, and its urban agglomeration is the seventh-most populous in the country.

Ahmedabad has emerged as an important economic, industrial and cultural hub in India. Historically known as the "Manchester of India" for its cotton industry, the city has more recently expanded into tertiary sector activities such as commerce, communication and construction following the liberalisation of the Indian economy.
