Overview
Collins Omondi Obuya (born 27 July 1981) is a former Kenyan cricketer who served as captain of the Kenya national cricket team. An allrounder, he batted right-handed and bowled leg spin, and represented Kenya in international cricket for over two decades after making his debut in 2001.
Obuya rose to prominence during the 2003 Cricket World Cup, where he was among Kenya's leading performers as the side advanced to the semi-finals. Over the course of his career, he featured in a wide range of formats for Kenya, and was part of the country's first T20I team as well as its first T20 World Cup squad. His highest first-class score is 103.
He announced his retirement from international cricket on 24 March 2024, with his final appearance coming in the bronze medal match at the African Games held in Accra, Ghana. His brothers, Kennedy Otieno and David Obuya, also played professional cricket and represented Kenya at the international level.
