Overview
Charanjit Singh Channi (born 15 March 1963) is an Indian politician affiliated with the Indian National Congress. He served as the 16th Chief Minister of Punjab and also functioned as the Leader of the House in the Punjab Legislative Assembly during his tenure.
Earlier in his career, Channi held the portfolio of Minister of Technical Education and Training in the second ministry headed by Amarinder Singh in Punjab. He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, representing the Congress in that role.
Channi was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Jalandhar parliamentary constituency, taking office on 4 June 2024. He continues to serve as a Member of Parliament from this constituency.
