Chandigarh University

Chandigarh University is a state private university located at Gharuan, in the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) district of Punjab, India. It is situated on the Chandigarh–Ludhiana national highway, a short distance from the city of Chandigarh, from which it derives its name. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across disciplines including engineering, management, law, pharmacy, computing, architecture, hospitality, journalism, and the liberal arts and sciences.

Background

The institution was established as a private university through an Act of the Punjab State Legislature, and is empowered to award its own degrees under the recognition framework of the University Grants Commission. It evolved from the broader Chandigarh group of educational institutions in the region, which had earlier offered technical and professional programmes affiliated to other universities before the present university was created.

The campus at Gharuan houses faculties and institutes organised around academic streams, residential hostels, libraries, laboratories, and sports infrastructure.
