Overview
Central University of Kashmir (often abbreviated as CUKmr), formerly known as the Central University of Jammu and Kashmir, is a central university located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is one of several central universities established by the Government of India to expand access to higher education across the country.
The university was established in March 2009 through an Act of Parliament, namely "The Central Universities Act, 2009." It commenced its academic activities in May 2009, shortly after its formal establishment.
In 2024, the Indian Institute of Ranking Framework (IIRF) placed the Central University of Kashmir at the 33rd rank within the Central Universities category.
