Overview
Central University of Jammu is a Central University located in the Samba district of the Jammu division of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of several Central Universities established by the Government of India to expand access to higher education across the country.
The university was established through an Act of Parliament, namely The Central Universities Act, 2009. It commenced academic functioning from 2011. Dr. Sudhir Singh Bloeria served as the first Vice Chancellor of the university.
As a Central University, the institution operates within the framework laid down by the Central Universities Act, 2009, which provides the statutory basis for its establishment and governance.
