Role in admissions
CMAT serves as a common entrance route for candidates seeking admission to management programmes approved by AICTE across India. Participating institutions use CMAT scores as a basis for shortlisting candidates for their selection processes. By providing a single standardised test, CMAT reduces the need for aspirants to appear in multiple institution-specific examinations for AICTE-approved management courses.
Background
The first edition of CMAT was conducted in 2012. The 2014 cycle of the test was held between 20 February and 24 February 2014, with around 1.2 lakh candidates participating. The results of that cycle were declared on 14 March 2014. The examination is conducted in computer-based mode at designated test centres across the country.
