Birati railway station is a suburban railway station in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. It serves the locality of Birati, situated on the northern fringes of Kolkata, and lies on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line of the Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways.

Overview
Birati station functions primarily as a halt for Kolkata suburban (EMU) services running between Sealdah and destinations such as Dankuni, Barasat, Hasnabad, Bangaon, Ranaghat and Krishnanagar. It is one of several closely spaced suburban stations on the busy Sealdah northern section, lying between Dum Dum Cantonment and Madhyamgram.
Location and access
The station is located in the Birati neighbourhood, close to the Jessore Road (NH 12, formerly NH 34) corridor connecting Kolkata with Barasat and the northern districts of West Bengal. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at Dum Dum is a short distance to the south, making the station a convenient rail access point for residents of Birati, Nimta and adjoining areas.
Services
The station handles a high frequency of EMU local trains operated by the Sealdah division. Long-distance trains generally pass through without halting. Platforms are configured for standard suburban rakes used on the Sealdah network.
Background
The Sealdah–Ranaghat–Kushtia line, on which Birati lies, was developed in the colonial era by the Eastern Bengal Railway from the 1860s onwards, with the section out of Sealdah opened in 1862. The route was later absorbed into Eastern Railway after the reorganisation of Indian Railways in 1952. Suburban services on this corridor were progressively electrified during the second half of the 20th century, supporting EMU operations that today serve stations such as Birati.
