Overview
Bihar Agricultural University is an autonomous public state university located in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. It is the oldest agricultural institute in the state and offers education and research in the agricultural sciences.
The institution traces its origins to 1908, when it was established as the Bengal Provincial Agricultural College by Andrew Henderson Leith Fraser. Following the partition of Bengal, it was renamed as Bihar Agricultural College, reflecting its changed administrative jurisdiction.
In 2010, the institution was placed under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), which oversees agricultural education and research across India. The university continues to function as a state-level centre for agricultural studies in Bihar.
