Background

Pahleza Ghat is historically known as a ferry crossing on the Ganga, situated opposite Pahalgam Ghat / Digha on the Patna side. The ghat has long served as a transit point for passengers and goods moving between north and south Bihar. The railway station at Bharpura Pahleza Ghat was developed to connect this riverside locality with the broader rail network in the Saran region.

Location and connectivity

The station lies in the Saran district area of Bihar, north of the Ganga. It is geographically close to Sonpur, an important railway centre on the Sonpur–Hajipur corridor, and is integrated into the local rail services that link the Chhapra–Sonpur–Hajipur belt. Its junction status indicates that it serves as a meeting point for more than one route in the local network.

Significance

As a junction in a riverine and historically ferry-dependent area, the station contributes to the integration of riverside communities with rail-based transport. It supports passenger movement between rural settlements in northern Bihar and major hubs such as Patna, Hajipur, Sonpur and Chhapra.
