Background

The university is situated in the Anand–Vallabh Vidyanagar–Karamsad belt of central Gujarat, a region long associated with cooperative, agricultural and educational institutions, including those connected with the Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) trust founded in the mid-twentieth century. Karamsad, in particular, is known as the home town of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and as the site of the Shree Krishna Hospital and the Pramukhswami Medical College, which form part of the medical-education ecosystem of the area.

Bhaikaka University was constituted to bring several existing institutions of higher learning in this region under a unified university framework, with a focus on health sciences and allied disciplines.

Academics

The university offers programmes through constituent institutions covering medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, and allied health sciences. Teaching and clinical training are linked with the hospital infrastructure available in Karamsad and the surrounding area.

Significance

By consolidating health-sciences education within a single university structure, Bhaikaka University contributes to the wider tradition of private, trust-led higher education in Gujarat. Its presence reinforces Anand district's role — already established through dairy cooperatives such as Amul and the agricultural university at Anand — as a centre for specialised education and research in the state.
