Location and geography
The station is situated in Kaimur district in southwestern Bihar, on the section of the Howrah–Delhi route that passes through the Sone valley belt. The town of Bhabua, which serves as the administrative headquarters of Kaimur district, lies a few kilometres from the station; for this reason the station carries the suffix "Road" in its name, a common Indian Railways convention indicating that the named settlement is not directly adjacent to the platforms. The station is positioned between Sasaram to the east and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (formerly Mughalsarai) to the west.
Administration
Bhabua Road falls under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Division of the East Central Railway, which has its zonal headquarters at Hajipur. The East Central Railway zone was created in 2002, after which stations along the Bihar segment of the Grand Chord were transferred from East Central Railway and Eastern Railway arrangements to ECR's jurisdiction.
Services
As a station on a major trunk route, Bhabua Road handles a mix of long-distance express, mail and passenger trains running between eastern India and Delhi, as well as services connecting to Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna and other major cities. Local passenger services link the station with neighbouring stations such as Sasaram, Dehri-on-Sone and DDU Junction. The line through the station is double-tracked and electrified, supporting both passenger and freight traffic.
Significance
The station is the primary rail access point for Kaimur district, an area with significant agricultural activity and tourism associated with the Kaimur Hills, the Mundeshwari Temple and other heritage sites in the region. Its location on the Howrah–Delhi main line gives the district direct rail connectivity to most of the major metropolitan centres of India.
