Overview
Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University (BCU), formerly known as Bengaluru City University, is a state university situated in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It functions as a public institution of higher education catering to colleges and students within its jurisdiction in the city.
The university was established in 2017, following the reorganisation of higher education administration in the Bengaluru region. It was created to manage a cluster of affiliated colleges in the city and to support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, learning and research.
In 2025, the university was renamed in honour of Dr Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India. The renaming reflects a tribute to his contributions to public life in India.
