Background
Edulji belongs to a Parsi family from Mumbai that has produced several first-class and international cricketers. The Edulji family is most prominently associated with Indian women's cricket through her sister Diana Edulji, one of the leading slow left-arm spinners of her generation and a long-serving captain of the India women's team.
Career
Behroze Edulji played competitive cricket during the formative phase of women's cricket in India in the 1970s, when domestic structures were being built around the WCAI and inter-state tournaments. She was part of India's representative cricket alongside contemporaries from the early India women's squads.
Significance
Players from the early generation of Indian women cricketers, including the Edulji sisters, are credited with helping establish a recognisable national side at a time when the women's game in India had limited institutional support, sponsorship and media coverage. Their participation laid the foundation for later professionalisation of the sport, culminating in the merger of the WCAI with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2006.
