Overview
Bari is a town and municipal council in the Dholpur district of the state of Rajasthan, India. Located in the eastern part of Rajasthan, close to the state's borders with Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, Bari serves as the headquarters of the Bari tehsil and functions as a local market and administrative centre for surrounding villages.

Geography
Bari lies in the Chambal river basin in the south-easternmost portion of Rajasthan. The terrain in and around the town reflects the broader landscape of the Dholpur region, which is marked by ravines associated with the Chambal and its tributaries. The town is connected by road to Dholpur, the district headquarters, and to other settlements in the surrounding tehsils.
Administration
Bari is administered as a municipal council (Nagar Palika) under the Rajasthan municipal framework. The town is the administrative seat of Bari tehsil, one of the tehsils that make up Dholpur district. For the purposes of state legislative representation, Bari is part of the Bari Vidhan Sabha constituency in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, while parliamentary representation falls under the Karauli–Dholpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Economy
The local economy is largely agricultural, supported by trade in grain, oilseeds and other agricultural produce. The Dholpur region as a whole is also known for its sandstone (commonly called Dholpur stone), and stone quarrying and dressing are notable economic activities in parts of the district.
Demographics and culture
Hindi is the principal language of administration and education, with local speech showing influences of dialects spoken in the wider Braj and eastern Rajasthan cultural zone. The town's cultural life reflects the broader traditions of the Dholpur–Chambal region, situated at the meeting point of Rajasthani, Braj and Bundeli cultural influences.
Transport
Bari is linked by state highways to Dholpur, which lies on the Delhi–Mumbai railway trunk route and on National Highway 44 (the Agra–Gwalior corridor). The nearest major railway junction and the closest large urban centre is Dholpur, with Agra and Gwalior being the closest large cities outside Rajasthan.
