The surrounding area is associated with the Banashankari Amma Temple, a prominent Hindu shrine that gives the locality its name.

Background

The station forms part of the north–south Green Line of Namma Metro, which connects Nagasandra in the north-west of the city to Silk Institute in the south. Banashankari lies on the southern stretch of this corridor, between the stations serving Jayanagar and the southern terminus.

Layout

As an elevated station, Banashankari follows the standard layout used on the Green Line, with a ground-level entrance, a concourse for ticketing and security checks, and an island platform on the upper level serving trains in both directions.

  • Level G – street entrance and exits
  • Concourse – fare gates, customer service, security screening
  • Platform – northbound and southbound services

Connectivity

The station's proximity to the Banashankari TTMC bus station provides direct interchange with a large number of BMTC city and suburban routes, in addition to feeder services operated for metro commuters. Auto-rickshaw stands and pickup points operate at the station entrances.

Significance

Banashankari is one of the busier stations on the southern arm of the Green Line, owing to the dense residential catchment, commercial activity along Kanakapura Road, and pilgrimage traffic to the Banashankari temple. It also functions as an arrival point for visitors to educational institutions and shopping districts in the surrounding wards.
