Balu Mahendra

Balu Mahendra (1939–2014) was a Sri Lankan-born Indian film director, cinematographer and screenwriter known for his work in South Indian cinema, particularly in Tamil. Widely regarded as one of the leading auteurs of his generation, he was associated with a realist, visually expressive style and is credited with mentoring a generation of filmmakers and cinematographers.
