Background

Bally is an industrial and residential town situated on the western bank of the Hooghly River, immediately to the north of Howrah. The station forms part of the dense suburban network operated by Eastern Railway out of Howrah, one of the busiest railway terminals in India. Its position on the main line linking Howrah with Bardhaman makes it an important halt for daily passenger traffic in the Kolkata metropolitan region.

Services

The station is served chiefly by Howrah suburban EMU local trains. It provides connectivity towards Howrah Junction in one direction and towards stations such as Belur, Liluah, Uttarpara, Hindmotor, Serampore, Sheoraphuli and onward to Bardhaman in the other. Bally is also notable for its connection with the Bally Ghat area on the Hooghly, historically linked to ferry services across the river.

Connectivity

Bally is interlinked with the broader transport network of the Kolkata region through road links to the Grand Trunk Road and proximity to the Vivekananda Setu and Nivedita Setu, which connect Howrah district with the northern parts of Kolkata. The Bally Halt station, located nearby on the Dankuni line, serves additional commuter traffic.
