Background
Bagula is a small town in the Hanskhali community development block of Nadia district. The railway station lies on the line connecting Sealdah in Kolkata with Gede on the India–Bangladesh border, which is one of the older suburban and main-line corridors of the Eastern Railway. The route historically formed part of the Eastern Bengal Railway network developed in the colonial period to link Calcutta with the eastern districts of undivided Bengal.
Services
The station primarily handles local EMU (electric multiple unit) services operating between Sealdah and stations such as Ranaghat, Krishnanagar and Gede. These trains are widely used by daily commuters travelling for work, education and trade between the rural areas of Nadia and Kolkata. The line is electrified and broad gauge.
Significance
For residents of Bagula and adjoining villages in Hanskhali block, the station is a principal mode of access to district headquarters at Krishnanagar and to the metropolitan Kolkata region. It also supports the movement of agricultural produce, particularly from the surrounding farming areas of Nadia.
