Background

The Violet Line of the Delhi Metro connects Kashmere Gate in central Delhi to Raja Nahar Singh in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, passing through several densely populated neighbourhoods of South and South East Delhi. Badarpur Border lies in the southern stretch of the corridor, close to the historical Badarpur locality, which has long been a transit point on the Mathura Road (National Highway 19) leading out of Delhi towards Agra.

The Station

Badarpur Border is built as an elevated structure with the standard DMRC layout of a concourse level and a platform level. The station was earlier known simply as Badarpur and serves as the last station on the Violet Line within the territory of Delhi before the line crosses into Haryana. Trains heading southward continue to stations in Faridabad, while northbound services run towards central Delhi.

Connectivity

The station has road access from Mathura Road and is served by Delhi Transport Corporation buses as well as auto-rickshaws and feeder services. Its position close to the inter-state border makes it widely used by daily commuters from Faridabad who travel into Delhi for work, education and business.

Significance

The extension of the Violet Line southwards from central Delhi to Faridabad was one of the first instances of the Delhi Metro network crossing the boundary of the National Capital Territory into a neighbouring state. Badarpur Border, as the last station on the Delhi side, marks this transition and has contributed to easing road congestion on the Delhi–Faridabad corridor along Mathura Road.
