The station forms part of the Orange Line corridor, which links the northern and central parts of Kanpur with key residential, educational and commercial areas. Bada Chauraha is located in the heart of the city and is among the busier nodes on the route on account of the dense market activity around the junction.

Background

The Kanpur Metro project is being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, the agency also responsible for the Lucknow Metro. The Orange Line is the first corridor of the Kanpur Metro and connects IIT Kanpur in the north with Naubasta in the south, passing through important parts of the city. Bada Chauraha lies along this alignment in the central business district.
