Overview
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, abbreviated as BRABU and also known as B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, is a state university located in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The university was established in 1960 and is named after the social reformer and architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The university has 37 constituent colleges and provides affiliation to several other colleges and institutes across the state, thereby playing a significant role in promoting higher education in Bihar. It offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes, available in both full-time and part-time modes, along with distance education programmes.
BRABU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). As a UGC-recognised institution, the university has been receiving assistance for computerisation and internet connectivity since 1987, which has supported the development of its infrastructure for teaching, learning and research.
In addition to regular academic programmes, the university organises symposia, seminars and workshops to facilitate academic growth and scholarly exchange among students and faculty.
