Location and significance
BTM Layout is one of the densely populated residential neighbourhoods in south Bengaluru, deriving its name from the abbreviation of Byrasandra, Tavarekere and Madiwala. The area is home to large residential layouts, commercial markets along the outer ring road, and a number of educational and corporate establishments. The metro station is intended to ease road congestion in this catchment area and provide access to the wider Bengaluru transit network.
Yellow Line context
The Yellow Line is part of Namma Metro Phase 2, an expansion of the metro network sanctioned to extend services beyond the original Phase 1 corridors. Construction on the corridor has been carried out by BMRCL through several civil contract packages, with stations including Jayadeva Hospital, Central Silk Board, HSR Layout and Electronic City, among others.
