Overview
Azmatullah Omarzai (Pashto: عظمت الله عمرزی; born 24 March 2000) is an Afghan cricketer hailing from Nurgal District in Kunar province, in eastern Afghanistan. He took up cricket at the age of 14 and went on to represent his country at the senior international level.
Omarzai made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in January 2021. He has since established himself as a member of the national side across formats, contributing as an all-rounder.
He was part of the Afghanistan squad at the 2023 Cricket World Cup, a tournament in which the team featured among the leading associate and full member nations. His performances in the period that followed earned him further recognition on the international stage.
At the 2024 ICC Awards, Omarzai was named the ICC Men's ODI Cricketer of the Year, becoming one of the prominent Afghan players to receive a top individual honour from the International Cricket Council.
