Assam Down Town University (AdtU) is a state private university located in Panikhaiti, Guwahati, in the Kamrup Metropolitan district of Assam, India. It was among the first private universities to be established in the state and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across disciplines such as health sciences, engineering, management, computer applications, and humanities.

Background

The university was established by an Act of the Assam Legislative Assembly as a self-financed private university, and is recognised by the University Grants Commission of India under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. It evolved from the Down Town group of educational institutions, which had earlier established colleges in the Guwahati region focused on professional education.
