Armaan Ebrahim comes from a motorsport family. His father, Akbar Ebrahim, raced Formula 3 cars and later became active in promoting motorsport in India. Ebrahim made his mark in formula racing through participation in the Formula Maruti and JK Tyre Formula BMW championships in India. He moved on to compete in Formula Renault series in Asia, racing in the Formula Renault 2.0 category, where he gained experience on international circuits.

Armaan represented A1 Team India in the A1 Grand Prix, the so-called "World Cup of Motorsport," during the latter seasons of the series. He shared driving duties for the Indian team alongside other Indian drivers including Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandhok.
