Adinarayana Rao, with whom she later founded Anjali Pictures, a production banner that backed several of her notable films.

Career

She entered films in the 1940s and rose to prominence with the Telugu hit Balaraju (1948). Through the 1950s she became a fixture of mythological and social dramas in both Telugu and Tamil. Significance

Anjali Devi is regarded as one of the foundational female stars of Telugu cinema, alongside contemporaries such as Bhanumathi Ramakrishna and Savitri. Her image as Sita in Lava Kusa, one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of its era, became iconic in popular South Indian visual culture. As a producer, she was among the early women in Telugu cinema to head a film production company.
