Location and connectivity

Amroha town is situated between Hapur and Moradabad, and the railway station forms part of one of the busiest electrified trunk routes in northern India. The line passes through Gajraula to the west and continues toward Moradabad junction in the east. The station provides connections to long-distance destinations including Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Bareilly and Saharanpur through trains halting on the route.

Background

The Moradabad–Ghaziabad line, on which Amroha is situated, was developed as part of the broader rail network linking Delhi with the eastern provinces during the colonial period and was later integrated into the Northern Railway after the reorganisation of Indian Railways into zones. The route has subsequently been upgraded with broad-gauge double tracking and electrification, allowing the station to handle a mix of passenger and freight traffic.

Significance

As the only major railway station within Amroha city, the station is the chief means of long-distance public transport for the district. It is particularly significant during religious and seasonal travel, given Amroha's importance as a pilgrimage and cultural centre in the Rohilkhand region.
