Amausi station lies close to the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport and the Amausi industrial area, making it an important access point for commuters working in the southern industrial belt of Lucknow.

Background

The Lucknow Metro project is implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), formerly known as the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC). The North–South Corridor was the first line to be planned and built, with construction beginning in the mid-2010s. A priority section between Transport Nagar and Charbagh was opened first, followed by the extension covering the airport at one end and Munshipulia at the other.

Operations

The station is operated as part of an integrated metro system using standard-gauge rolling stock. Like other stations on the corridor, it is equipped with platform screen doors, escalators, lifts, and automatic fare collection gates that support smart card and token-based ticketing. The station has been designed for accessibility, with provisions for differently-abled passengers.

Layout

As an elevated station, Amausi follows the standard three-level layout used on the corridor:

  • Ground level: Station entry and exit, with parking and feeder transport access.
  • Concourse level: Ticketing, customer service, security check, and paid/unpaid concourse areas.
  • Platform level: Two side platforms serving trains in both directions of the Red Line.

Connections

The station is situated along the Kanpur–Lucknow road corridor, providing road-based connectivity to other parts of the city. Nearby points of interest include the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport and the Amausi industrial area, which hosts several manufacturing and logistics units.

Significance

Amausi station contributes to easing traffic congestion on the busy Kanpur Road by offering a rapid transit alternative. By linking the southern industrial periphery with the city centre, Charbagh railway station, and the northern residential belt around Munshipulia, the station plays a role in integrating Lucknow's commuter movement.
