Overview
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajkot (AIIMS Rajkot) is a public medical school and hospital located in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. It is one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMSs), a group of autonomous public medical institutions of higher education established by the Government of India.
The institute is part of the central government's initiative to expand tertiary healthcare and medical education across various regions of the country through the AIIMS network. As with other AIIMSs, it is intended to function as both a teaching institution and a hospital providing medical services.
The first academic session at AIIMS Rajkot commenced on 21 December 2020. Subsequently, on 31 December 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the institute.
