Overview
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Kalyani (AIIMS Kalyani) is a public hospital and medical school located in Saguna, Kalyani, West Bengal. It is one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance.
The institute was announced in 2014 and formally approved on 7 October 2015, with ground-breaking taking place in 2016. It was established by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), as formalised through a Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notification published in The Gazette of India on 24 January 2018. AIIMS Kalyani commenced operations in 2019 and was among six AIIMS institutions to gain functional autonomy that year.
The campus comprises a Super Specialty hospital with 960 beds and a dedicated medical college. Within this infrastructure, the AYUSH division accounts for 920 beds, while the remaining 40 beds are located within the OPD. The Super Specialty hospital houses 34 specialised departments spanning clinical and diagnostic fields such as Anaesthesiology and Biochemistry, alongside foundational disciplines including Anatomy, Cardiology and Physiology.
AIIMS Kalyani offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a yearly intake of 211 students. The annual MBBS intake has been 125 from 2020 onwards, and admission is conducted through NEET (UG). The institute also runs a Nursing College offering B.Sc. and M.Sc. Nursing programmes.
