Overview
Alankrita Shrivastava is an Indian screenwriter, director and producer working in Hindi cinema. She made her directorial debut in 2011 and has since received recognition for her work, including the Grand Prix at the Créteil International Women's Film Festival and a Filmfare Award nomination for the film Lipstick Under My Burkha.
Shrivastava studied filmmaking at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi before relocating to Mumbai to pursue a career in films. She began her professional journey by working as an associate director with filmmaker Prakash Jha, assisting him on projects such as Apharan (2005) and Raajneeti (2010). This early experience in mainstream Hindi cinema shaped her transition to independent direction.
She made her directorial debut with the 2011 film Turning 30. Shrivastava subsequently directed and wrote the black comedy Lipstick Under My Burkha, which received widespread critical praise and brought her significant attention as a filmmaker. The film earned her several accolades, including a nomination at the Filmfare Awards.
