Background
The Lucknow Metro project is implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), formerly the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC). Alambagh metro station is one of the southern-section stations on this corridor.
History
Commercial operations on the priority section of the Red Line, between Transport Nagar and Charbagh, commenced on 5 September 2017, with Alambagh among the stations opened in this initial phase. The full North–South Corridor from the airport to Munshipulia was inaugurated for public service on 8 March 2019, integrating Alambagh into the end-to-end metro network.

Significance
Alambagh is a high-density transit catchment because of its proximity to Charbagh railway station, the Alambagh ISBT and major arterial roads. The metro station thus plays a notable role in last-mile and intra-city connectivity for both daily commuters and outstation travellers transferring between rail, bus and metro services.
